Food and Consciousness

As we figured out in previous blog posts, one who approaches the spiritual pathway must be very careful, what he or she's eating (see One Who Is Spiritual Must Be Very Careful About What He Eats and How Meat and Alcohol Can Trigger Fear). One who has reached alrighty enlightenment can eat and drink everything, because once the highest consciousness is attained, someone cannot lose it anymore. Nothing can draw someone down, who has found unity with God. But we on our degree must be very careful, what we let into our mouths. Our consciousness is veiled. We might exist in a dark room, where we just sometimes see a small light of inspiration or blissfulness. That's why we must work to let everything behind, that makes our heaviness and numbness even stronger. Our body and nervous system must become very sensible and receivable, if they want to start to receive the signals from the upper worlds.

Fasting is a great way to cleanse ourselves, but with improper fasting we can also harm ourselves more than help. Rather we should stick to a healthy diet on the spiritual path. We should avoid alcohol and meat on weekdays, should refrain from smoking and any other drugs. Our organism must become as healthy as possible. Fruits or vegetables that grow on trees have the power to lift our consciousness up, while nourishment, that grows in the soil grounds us. Fish is also a very disputed nourishment for spiritual people. While some masters appreciated it to raise their consciousness to the astral worlds, fish can also intensify any forms of anxiety, fear, and depression. The deeper a fish swims in the waters, the more detached he is from the sunlight. We, in the beginning of our spiritual process, should rather pick food, that gains a lot of sunlight. This helps our organism and nervous system to open itself up for the light of the upper worlds.

Kabbalah states, as above so below. That's why everything we do or digest in our world has a direct influence on the upper world. That's why it's recommended to eat bled out meat in Kabbalah, because one who consumes the blood of an animal consumes also its consciousness. And so a gap can develop between your human body and the information you absorbed from the animal, whose astral form is not that of a human being. But exactly because of this problem the Zohar comments on kosher and unkosher animals and how they relate to the human being.

We should also consider, those are all recommendations to make you as conscious as possible. Don't confound your diet with the goal. One who already has attained the peak of consciousness cannot make anything other than all right. But we at the moment, should choose very well, what we let into our body/mind system and what not.
