When We Don’t Invest Into Study, Suffering Will Beat Us From Behind

The light of infinity is in a state of constant rest. It depends on the Kli, the vessel, in as how far it can canalize the infinite light into our world. But we're not yet really in a state, where we can channel the light of the Ein Sof, because we're still on the degree of little children. Parents want, that their children will one day grow up, and can care for themselves, and so it is with the Creator. He wants to give us all the means to control our destiny and reality itself, but most of us prefer to sit still in the sandbox, and to put only dirt into our mouths, in the same way as little children do in our world. Only, when someone has grown up, he can appreciate a real meal. And so it is with materiality and spirituality. We strive for things which in comparison to that, which the Creator has prepared for us, are nothing else than sand or pebbles. But the parents of our soul — that should supply us with all, that is necessary for our development — want, that we become adults, and to be able to act on our own in the real world. And so when a child is only busy with things, that prevent it from growth, you will discipline it. And so the Creator is acting on us through all kinds of sufferings, that we see in today's world. But also those things are only for our ultimate good.

According to Kabbalah, we have also another choice. We could choose to go to school voluntarily and become adults in the real world through the least amount of suffering and pain. We can rise to the level of God Himself, and can become creators of our own destiny. You would also discipline a child, who prefers to remain sitting all his years in the sandbox and to amuse itself with little. And so are we most of the time: We amuse ourselves with very little things. We think we're smart and rational, but we are not. We are in fact very dumb, more than an animal is. Animals, the Zohar is saying, flee from smoke and fire, but man in his evil inclination tends to run straight into it — into his own destruction. And so we should be thankful for the sufferings, because only through them, we're awakening to our true purpose. But as said, there's also another pathway: The Path of Torah with its inner light of the Zohar. And in this way we can leave the exile with the least pain and sufferings, and will arrive at the true life of all the worlds.
