Going with the whole means to become timeless, decisionless, because every time we make a choice we fall for the world. Being without decision means not being part of the world. Going with the ocean of existence means to enter a flow of being, whose direction you never determine. Being in the flow means to become effortless, because every effort comes from the ego. When you think you can earn something through effort, you will hit only the walls. Effort is like a medicine in the beginning of the spiritual process, because we think being effortless would mean to be lazy. We only exist in extremes of diligence or indifference. The middle is not graspable, not understandable by us, because being in the middle means to be egoless, mindless. Being in the middle means to enter eternity. But we for now exist only in extremes, because all we think we are are elements of extremism. One day we eat until our stomach bursts, the next day we go into extreme fasting. Either we condemn alcohol or we drink until we get drunk. Or we indulge into our sexuality to excess, and after the disappointment we think suddenly we must live like a monk. All our spiritual pathways and techniques consist of extremes, in the same way as the world exists only out of extremes, but being exactly in the middle means to be effortless, pathless, flowing naturally with the whole, knowing intuitively what to do at every given moment, and the objective is always nothing else than this very moment.
