About Unity, Love and Criticism in a Community

We must come to a state of unity, where everyone is ready to work for the common good instead of his own advantages. A spiritual community should encourage its members to care even for the weakest chain of it. There should be no coercion in spirituality, and that's why to be part of a community shouldn't be dependent upon how much one donates or volunteers. We must get rid of the cult structures, that most of today's religions and spiritual communities have in common. A leader or teacher of a spiritual community should not lead in an authoritarian style as being infallible in all his decisions, but he must be someone the community respects because it sees that it is better off with him than anyone else. A leading persona must be able to stand and even appreciate any sort of criticism or opinion expressed by his students, while students must be encouraged to apply criticism whenever they think it is of necessity. This follows the principals how Yehuda Ashlag thought, that a spiritual community must look like.

A spiritual group shouldn't be something, which we visit just once a week, and where we hope then to gain some benefit of it or from its teachings, but everyone should invest into the love of friends. This means, that when I see that a friend is in a lack of something, may it be privately or concerning the spiritual work, I must do everything to help him. We should give people a task how to partake in the best way according to their talents in the community, and even when someone is in financial lack for example, the friends must find a way, that he can leave his momentarily situation. We must also arrange meetings on a private level, where we invite the friends to a meal, or we must make the friends gifts, so that they get a feeling of the importance of the spiritual goal. And we should not only embrace the friends if they run after some programs of the community, but even when they're concerned with some matters, they should be motivated to present this problem to the community or at least the teacher. And even when someone has an issue with the leader of the group, it must be discussed out. In this way we create a community, that doesn't follow cult structures of an infallible authority, but a community, where people feel that they will be at the end better of in life, because they learn from the example giving by the leaders and the other members.

Spirituality should be a matter, that we follow because we see the outcome of it, and not out of a motivation of fear or blame. We ourselves will realize that the more we give unconditionally, the more we will get back in life. And that's why the study of Torah should not be only a concern of a dry tradition, where we do actions, and visit once a week a center or a synagogue, or a church, but it must be applied in the love of thy neighbor, where everyone in the community is getting a sense to be needed and be appreciated. In this way we begin plant the seed for the society of the future, because people will see, that the inner Torah is the only solution to their problems, as the Bible teaches, that the kings of the world will come on their own to the Messiah, because the Messiah will provide all the solutions the world is in need of.
